REAL WEDDING: MELISSA & RYAN
Love is always in the air at Willowdale Estate! Happy anniversary to Melissa & Ryan who got married during our mansion season one year ago on February 13th!
While preparing for the ceremony, Melissa and her bridesmaids enjoyed the Mimosa Getting Ready Package – champagne on ice with the brides choice of two different juices!
Our post and beam style Wedding Suite is the ideal place to get ready for your big day and has the perfect hook to display a wedding dress! Melissa wore a french ivory colored A-line dress with cap sleeves, a scoop neck and elegant layers of tulle.
Wearing comfortable shoes on your wedding day is important! Melissa wore a pair of fashionable pink studded flats by shoe designer “Butter” – which offers many flirty feminine designs including a whole bridal collection!
Are you planning on doing a first look at your wedding? If so, it provides some extra time for special portraits and Willowdale’s house and grounds has no shortage of photo opportunities. Melissa and Ryan are pictured on the pergola just outside of the library in the North Wing of the estate.
When you are planning a winter wedding, it’s important to make sure you and your wedding party are comfortable in the cold! Assorted faux fur shawls are a stylish and savvy choice for outside portraits!
Our in-house flatware, glassware and linens provide a simple, clean and classic tablescape for your reception while our Chiavari chairs and mercury glass candle package add a touch of glamour!

REAL WEDDING: Edith & Zachary
Seeing the Willowdale grounds covered in snow adds an element of awe and intrigue that only gets more beautiful as the night goes on and the twinkle lights glow on the fallen snow. Edith & Zachary tied the knot inside the estate, but were surrounded by the snow covered grounds and the unique historical details Willowdale has to offer.
Edith and her bridesmaids prepared for the day in our Wedding Suite which offers a large open space with lots of natural lighting and is the perfect spot for hair, makeup and ensembles! Her detailed hair clip of pearls and ivory wedding shoes covered in rhinestones were a perfect choice for the neutral palette they used in many details of their day.
Zachary and his groomsmen were just down the hall getting ready in the Equestrian Lounge. Their wardrobe choice was a classic three-piece grey suit and dark brown leather Oxfords.
The pastel wedding invitations matched perfectly with the neutral floral bouquet centerpieces featuring a variety of creams, whites and succulents arranged by Karla Cassidy Designs.
During their first look, Edith & Zachary embraced the snow and took portraits amidst the the winter scenery. Edith’s fur shawl and long white gloves are fashionable outerwear accessories that will help keep her warm and look great in photos!
The ceremony took place at dusk in the Conservatory under our birch pole chuppah decorated with an assortment of textured greenery.
The reception space included a variety of round and square tables with textured burlap runners, LED candles and classic floral arrangements.
Throughout their event, Edith & Zachary took advantage of all the unique photo opportunities offered by our 901 Arts & Crafts mansion. They are pictured below in the North Wing of the Estate in the Library which features ornate built-in shelving.

REAL WEDDING – Nicole & John
Nicole and John were married at Willowdale Estate in late November of 2014. They chose photographer Jamison Wexler who is known for his stunning portraits. We had trouble choosing which portraits to feature here because they are all SO GOOD! The image below shows the Nicole and John on the Ipswich River walkway with the sun setting behind them.
For a couple with such great style they also had a very fashionable cocktail– champagne with a gold rim! To get this look on any golden cocktail just find some gold rim sugar and apply generously to add a swanky and sweet detail to your drink.
Guests enjoyed a simple and elegant table with lots of candle light and lanterns, which looks perfect for a winter wedding. This mansion wedding was the very last weekend of November and included Willowdale Estate’s holiday decor. The neutral ribbon textures, garland, lights, and white poinsettias look perfect with the ivory and gold colors of this wedding.
Outerwear for Winter Weddings
Winter wedding season has so many beautiful details and themes to inspire couples hosting a winter themed event. Think fresh snowfall, romantic candlelight, rustic textures like birch bark, pinecones, paired with mercury glass, and lights on our trees. One detail that we consider an absolute must is outerwear for wedding day portraits. So what are brides wrapping up in to keep warm when they head outside for portraits? Here are a few of our absolute favorites!
A luxurious fur (or faux fur!) stole, neutral cardigan, bright red scarf and classic coat, or this beautiful tartan shawl go a long way to helping these brides keep warm and look impossibly stylish too!
